Cottage Grove, Oregon- 2015 has been very kind to Shane Stewart. The Bixby, Oklahoma native, but current resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, is second in the World of Outlaw Sprint Series points. On Wednesday September 9th he will revisit a track that he has accrued multi wins at, Cottage Grove Speedway.

“Cottage Grove is a great track! I’ve been there several times and it’s a unique place,” commented Stewart, “the corners are totally different from one another, the back straight is kind of round. There’s always a great race there.”

Stewart has three victories in three different cars at the historical 1/4-mile clay oval all of which were in 360 Sprints. The first time he won was for Mike and Janie Doyle in 2007 during Speedweek Northwest with the now defunct Northwest Sprint Challenge Series. The first time the American Sprint Car Series-National Tour was at CGS, in 2009, Stewart was the winner with his former car owner Paul Silva. The last time he graced victory lane at “The Grove” was in 2012 which again was during Speedweek Northwest except that time for car owners Scott and Jason Finley.

“The last couple of times we’ve been there Roger Crockett’s dad Brian has done a really good job with the race track,” continued the 2015 Kings Royal and Iron Man 55 winner, “it’s always an exciting race as a driver because it’s a small track and the way the track is shaped you generally get really good side-by-side racing, so I’m looking forward to getting back to it.“

Stewart has been to Cottage Grove only a few times with the World of Outlaws. In four starts his best finish is a thirteenth place result in 2009. Keep an eye out for the Larson-Marks Racing/ENEOS Oil/GoPro/Parker Stores #2 entry, piloted by Stewart.

In addition to being second in points with the series he has compiled some very impressive statistics. He has managed to win eight races, finished in the top five thirty-two times, forty-eight top tens, and four quick time awards.

Stewart earned his first win of the year at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Nevada on March 4th followed by a victory at Kings Speedway in Hanford, California on April 17th. May 1st the Salina Highbanks Speedway in his native state of Oklahoma would be his third win while he would visit the winner's circle at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa on June 12th. Stewart would sweep the weekend at Rossburg, Ohio's Eldora Speedway for the Kings Royal weekend on July 17th and 18th after winning both the Knight Before and the Royal itself.

Shane would hoist the trophy on high at the Iron Man 55 at the Federated Auto Parts Speedway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on August 8th and most recently at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Washington this past Saturday, September 5th. Although it was a non-points victory he was victorious in the Ralph Capitani Classic at Iowa's Knoxville Raceway on Sunday August 9th as well as the Wednesday August August 12th prelim night at the FVP Knoxville Nationals.

Tickets are Adults $40.00, Juniors (9-17)/Seniors/Military $35.00, Youths (8 & Under) $10.00, and Pit Passes are $50.00. Racing is scheduled to begin around the normal 6:45 PM time.
