Inside Line Promotions – QUINCY, Ill. (Aug. 25, 2015) – Jamie Ball powered to a pair of top 10s last weekend during a Sprint Invaders tripleheader.

“It was definitely a good team effort,” he said. “We ran well. The results didn’t show what we hoped for, but we had moments we were quick and found some areas we can work on.”

The weekend began for White Lightning Motorsports last Friday at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. Ball won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row, which locked him into the dash. He then placed fifth in the dash to garner the fourth starting position for the main event.

“On the second attempt to start the feature another driver got into me,” he said. “It caused a pileup and a melee of cars who spun into each other. My car wasn’t damaged though and I had to restart at the back. I think I restarted 15th and was able to move up to eighth. I probably had a shot at a top five if I ran better laps at the end, but it was a nice recovery given the circumstances.”

Ball maneuvered from the back to post an eighth-place result.

The team tackled 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, the ensuing night.

“It just wasn’t a very good night,” he said. “The car was good. I just made the wrong decisions and the wrong moves all night long. Burlington is a track I’ve struggled with lately. I just need to be better on my end. It was fairly disappointing.”

Ball ended fifth in a heat race and 14th in the main event.

The weekend concluded on Sunday with Ball making his debut at Quincy Raceways. He advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race before rallying from his ninth starting position into the top five during the main event.

“I was working the bottom real well,” he said. “I got up to fifth with a handful of laps left. Then rubber started coming in at the middle to the top of the track. I got passed by two guys before I got up there.”

Ball’s seventh-place result was his 12th top 10 of the season. He ranks third in the Sprint Invaders championship standings.

Ball and teammate Devin Kline are set to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, for the season finale at the half-mile oval.

“I’m just hoping to build off our success at 360 Knoxville Nationals,” Ball said. “I’ve had a terrible year there so far. We’ve got nothing to lose. We’re gunning for a win.”
