Gravel 7th at River Cities Speedway Before Late Issue Hampers Strong Run at Nodak Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing in the home state of his Destiny Motorsports car owners, David Gravel picked up a seventh place finish on Friday night at the River Cities Speedway, and was well on his way to a podium finish on Sunday night at the Nodak Speedway until he became a fuel victim during a caution plagued feature event.

“It was cool to run well in North Dakota with so many of Rick and Barb Rogers (car owners) friends and supporters watching,” David Gravel said.

Checking in at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND on Friday night, Gravel timed the MonDak Portables/Champion Brand Lubricants/Ft. Union Supply and Trading in fifth fastest.

Finishing third during his heat race, Gravel would move into the Dash where a seventh place finish would place the Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis No. 7 machine in the fourth row for the 40-lap A Main event.

Gravel’s feature event did not get off to a good start as he would lose several positions in the opening portion of the race and he would find himself back in the 15th position.

Staying cool under the collar, Gravel would get his machine working on the racy speedway, and get moving in the right direction. Putting on a nice charge in the closing laps, the Watertown, CT pilot would work back up to finish in the seventh spot.

Sunday night the scene would shift to the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND and Gravel would time in 11th fastest. Starting on the pole of his heat race, he would seize the opportunity as he picked up the win and moved into the Dash.

Starting in the last row, an eighth place finish would put Gravel in the fourth row of what would be a very wild feature event.

When the race came to life, Gravel would work his way inside the Top-Five as he battled with Kerry Madsen, Paul McMahan, and Brad Sweet at times.

As the laps clicked off, things would start to get crazy as cars would cut tires, and start slipping off the track causing numerous caution flags. Getting into to third spot late in the race, Gravel would feel the effects of the extended race as his machine would sputter and come to a stop with no more fuel. He would officially be scored 18th.
“We were decent in the feature, and had some things go our way on Sunday night that allowed us to be in a prime spot late in the race,’ Gravel said. “Our good fortune came to a close late in the race and we ended up running out of fuel and losing what would have been a very good finish. I have to thank my guys for all their hard work this week, and as he continue west, hopefully we can keep getting into the Dash, and picking up good finishes.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Destiny Motorsports and David Gravel will now head north of the border for two nights of action at the Castrol Speedway on Friday and Saturday night.
