Schuett adds another new track to his 2015 resume

Dupo, IL (August 12, 2015) In his rookie season with the Lucas Oil POWRi midgets, Philo, Illinois native, Kyle Schuett has added a lot of race tracks and accomplishments to his racing resume. This past weekend was no exception as Kyle and his Schuett Racing team traveled south to Pevely, Missouri to do battle on the beautiful high banks known as I-55 Raceway. In addition to the POWRi midgets, the World of Outlaw sprint cars were also on hand, making this one of the most popular midget races of the season. The fans weren’t disappointed either and after Friday night’s show, social media was full of compliments and excitement about how great the midget racing was.

On Friday night, Kyle found himself starting fifth in heat race number four based on his pill draw. With the Esslinger powered Boss Chassis ready to do work, Kyle was able to move forward two positions for a third place finish in heat race action. Based on passing points, this put the #9K lining up seventh for the 30-lap A-main event. In a race that saw multiple drivers get upside down in turns one and two, Kyle unfortunately became victim to the tricky corners around lap 20 when he got up on the wall and turned his Boss Chassis over. This would end the team’s night and they would be credited with a 17th place finish.

Saturday night started much like Friday with Kyle again lining up fifth in heat race number four. This time, he would advance one position and finish with a fourth place spot in heat race action. Based on passing points, Kyle lined up 16th in the 30-lap A-main event. After learning the track a little bit on Friday, Kyle was able to move forward for a 13th place finish and a much better night than Friday.

With the season over half way complete, Kyle currently sits fourth in the POWRi point standings with a total of 4,060 points. He is 390 points behind Boss Chassis teammate, Austin Brown, and 370 points ahead of last year’s Rookie of the Year, Spencer Bayston. He also still currently leads the chase for the 2015 Rookie of the Year honors.

The midget will sit idle this weekend as POWRi has the weekend off. Up next in midget racing will be Friday, August 21st, at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. Following Lincoln will be Macon Speedway on Saturday night. Only ten nights remain on the POWRi racing schedule and Kyle and his Schuett Racing team will continue working hard to bring home a top five finish in the point standings and hopefully, Rookie of the Year honors.
