Freeman Maintains TOWR Championship Lead Following Top Five at Kennedale

Inside Line Promotions – KENNEDALE, Texas (Aug. 10, 2015) – Cody Freeman earned his seventh top-five finish of the season last Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park.

The result kept him on top of the TOWR micro sprint championship standings at the midpoint of the schedule.

“We’ve still got the points lead so it was a good night,” he said.

The event began with Freeman advancing from fourth to third place during a heat race, which lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“We had a little trouble with another car in the heat race,” he said. “He came down on me when I was trying to pass him. I just let off so we didn’t crash. If I would have been able to complete that pass I would have started the feature closer to the front.”

That would have been a big advantage for Freeman, who maintained a top five throughout the feature on the narrow track.

“I pretty much stayed around fifth,” he said. “I got up to fourth in the first six or seven laps, but got passed with three or four laps to go. It was follow the leader.”

Freeman’s fifth-place result gives him a seven-point lead in the championship standings entering the next TOWR event on Aug. 22 at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas.
