Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 10, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. put together a solid outing during the 25th annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals last weekend.

Bruce Jr. recorded a top 10 during his preliminary night to lock his One 8 Motorsports team into Saturday’s $10,000-to-win finale, which he placed 13th in to cap the weekend at Knoxville Raceway.

“It was pretty good,” he said. “We’re proud of what we did. For how things are going now and how I’ll be treating racing for a while we’re happy with what we got.”

The event began last Thursday with Bruce Jr. qualifying 13th quickest around the half-mile oval. He then maneuvered from fourth to second place during a heat race to advance into the feature inversion, which lined him up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“We were able to time in really well and do what we needed to do,” he said. “We got through the heat race, which is huge.

“I’m not too happy with the A Main. We ended up losing some spots, especially toward the end. We were having some motor problems. It got real hot about halfway through. Whenever they get that hot they don’t run that good. It was pretty much wide open around the race track. We have great engines. It was just the way it was that night. It was still enough to put us in the show.”

Bruce Jr., who spent most of the first half of the race battling for a podium position, ended with a seventh-place result. Once preliminary nights were complete he ranked 10th in overall points out of more than 100 competitors, which locked Bruce Jr. into the 10th starting position for Saturday’s main event.

“It was one of those deals where the race went green to checkered and everybody spread out,” he said. “It was a product of being on a half mile and racing so many good cars. Everybody who was in that A Main is a good driver. We just evened out as far as speed went and that was it. I made a couple of mistakes and that’s what cost us. I don’t think we would have fell back if I didn’t get up on the berm a couple of times.”

Bruce Jr. raced for a top 10 throughout the feature before he ended with a 13th-place result.
