Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (Aug. 4, 2015) – Last weekend was certainly a frustrating one for Joe Trenca, who was slowed by the weather and a parts failure.
The weekend got off to a rough start on Friday when the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, Ontario, Canada, rained out following qualifying.
The Mucci Motorsports team then ventured to Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday only to be hampered by a broken torsion bar during a heat race.
“The night was delayed by a rain storm, which didn’t allow us to qualify,” he said. “So they lined the heats up by the pill draw and we had a high number so we started eighth. I made it up to sixth, but a torsion bar broke with about two laps remaining. I limped it to the finish, but lost three positions.”
Trenca, who was only one spot out of a lock-in position to the feature before the problem, ended ninth in his heat race. That relegated him to the B Main, which he started on the inside of the fifth row.
“The track was one lane after the rain delay,” he said. “I didn’t get it done in the first two laps and after that everyone was strung out. It was one lane, locked down and wide open. If you didn’t make a bonsai move on the start you weren’t going anywhere the rest of the race.”
Trenca picked up a pair of positions to finish seventh, but he missed a transfer into the main event.
The team is slated to compete this Saturday at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in Canandaigua, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.
