PETERSEN MEDIA: Scheduled to run North of the Border on three different occasions last week, David Gravel would pick up a sixth place finish during the World of Outlaws lone night of action on Tuesday night as rain cancelled Friday and Saturday night races.
“We ran well at Lebanon Valley the Sunday prior to heading into Canada, and we kept that going at Ohsweken and had a pretty good night,” David Gravel said.
Getting the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine timed in second fastest on Tuesday night, the Watertown, CT driver would finish fourth during his heat race on a slicked off Ohsweken Speedway racing surface.
Moving into the Dash by way of his qualifying effort, Gravel would struggle a touch as he finished in the sixth spot, lining him up in the third row for the 30-lap A Main event.
As the race came to life, Gravel would race insdie the Top-10 as he battled with the likes of Darryn Pittman and Kraig Kinser. With double file restarts shaking things up periodically in the feature event, the Watertown, CT driver would find himself inside the Top-Five with just two laps to go.
The final restart of the night would be tricky for Gravel, as he would slip back to the sixth spot as he searched for grip. With the checkered flag in the air, Gravel would end his night with a sixth place effort.
“After the month we have had, it feel good to get a good finish,” Gravel said. “It is a huge two-week span for us, so hopefully we can string some good runs together and make some noise at the Iron Man and the Knoxville Nationals.”
