Ryan Bickett parked his #17 in victory lane for the first time in the Dollar Loan Center Outlaw Sprint division Sunday night at Huset’s.
Bickett, a former 360 sprint car champion used the high groove to build momentum and take the lead from Troy Schreurs on the fifth lap of the 25 lapper. It wasn’t done there. After a late race restart, Jody Rosenboom would make a bid for the lead with a slide job in turn four. Bickett was able to squeeze between the #14 and the wall to maintain the lead and go on to the win.
Rosenboom finished second ahead of two drivers that exchanged a countless number of sliders in the early portion of the feature. Dusty Zomer took third with Logan Forler fourth. Matt Juhl completed the top five.
Fans were on their feet at the finish of the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop IMCA RaceSaver sprint car feature. Robby Wolfgang took the lead on lap four, but at the white flag, the #2D of Dusty Ballenger was stalking him. As the duo raced off the final corner, Ballenger went to the inside and snuck into the lead. The margin of victory for Ballenger was 0.053 seconds. This was Ballenger’s first win in the class.
Randy Wulf was another first time winner by collecting the trophy in the micro sprint car class. The Chester, South Dakota driver led all 12 laps to take home the win over Greg Gunderson and Chris Breen.
Shaun Taylor took his second win of 2015 in the Bolte’s Street Stock class. Taylor took the lead from Zach Olivier on the fourth lap and then held off a late-race charge from the rookie racer in the late laps.
Dustin Gulbrandson charged from eleventh to get the win the Hobby Stock feature. Michalob Voeltz was second with Chad Kuhnert third.
