Bikes, freedom and mayhem will be the general theme for Dodge City Raceway Park with a diverse slate of August events on tap following a sizzling month of July at the 3/8-mile oval in southwest Kansas.
The month of August at DCRP will include I-70 Flat Track Motorcycles, the USAC Southwest non-wing Sprint Cars and Sport Modified Mayhem.
It all gets under way next Friday night, August 7, with the first appearance of the I-70 Flat Track Motorcycles. The event marks the first of four rounds of competition that continues on at Colby and Stockton.
The full day of action includes practice in the afternoon followed up by feature events in the evening.
Action reverts back to four wheels on Saturday, August 22, with the final leg of the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Third Annual “Freedom Tour”. The popular tour for the Arizona-based series includes stops at Lawton Speedway on August 19, Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on August 20 and Wichita’s 81 Speedway on August 21 before wrapping up at Dodge City Raceway Park.
Michael Bonneau topped last year’s “Freedom Tour” final for the non-wing Sprint Cars at Dodge City Raceway Park after Charles Davis, Jr., and Rick Ziehl split DCRP honors in 2013.
The August 22 “Freedom Tour” finale will also include the K.A.R. vintage cars Eavert Isaac Tribute along with championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
August racing action will wrap up one week later on Saturday, August 29, with the Second Annual Sport Modified Mayhem event. With the IMCA Sport Modifieds taking center stage for the night, the Mayhem winner will collect $1,000.
Mayhem could be the operative word with the IMCA Sport Modifieds offering up ten different winners in as many events at DCRP thus far in 2015. Clay Money bested a field of 33 to top last year’s Inaugural edition of Sport Modified Mayhem. Money picked up a DCRP win earlier this year on June 6.
The August 29 Sport Modified Mayhem event will also include DCRP championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
The trio of August events will set the stage for the Third Annual Jerry Soderberg Memorial Championship event that finishes off the season on Saturday night, September 26.
The 2015 slate of events at Dodge City Raceway Park includes 15 nights of competition with a number of special events along the way. The track’s full slate of events is available at http://www.dodgecityraceway.com/schedule/.
