Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (July 28, 2015) – Caleb Helms missed last weekend’s UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions doubleheader in Michigan and Wisconsin because of a problem with the team’s truck.
“The computer on the rig had been acting up and the brake lights weren’t even working,” he said. “It wouldn’t have been safe to drive it. We were trying to fix it and spent three and a half hours working on it, but couldn’t get it done in time.”
Helms said he anticipates the problem will be fixed or the team will use a different truck to haul the race trailer this weekend when the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions visits Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday for the Open Wheel Championship before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa., for the 2nd annual Sprint Monster.
“We’re going to new tracks and getting into more of the slick tracks,” he said. “I think we’re going to be good. I’m a lot more confident in myself knowing that we’ve gotten things turned around.”
Helms has competed at both tracks once this season and while he doesn’t have many laps at either track, he registered a sixth-place result at Atomic Speedway last season.
“We like it a lot there,” he said. “It’s usually really slick and we’ve been getting better on that lately. Hopefully we’re ready for it and have two good nights there.
“It’ll be fun to go back to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway as well. That’s a really wide track that should be pretty racy.”
