Freeman Garners Fifth Podium of Season with Runner-Up Result at 281 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – STEPHENVILLE, Texas (July 27, 2015) – Cody Freeman registered his fifth podium finish of the season last Saturday at 281 Speedway, where he competed in the winged restrictor micro sprint class.

“All night the track was really rutted,” he said. “There were holes several inches deep. In hot laps it was like that and we didn’t get the pull we wanted so we had to make a gear change. Before the heat race we added more gear and could have had more.”

Freeman finished where he started – second – during the heat race, which was good enough to garner the third starting position for the main event.

“I got to second in the first turn of the feature,” he said. “The leader pulled a half a straightway on me at the beginning. I started finding the racing groove on the bottom.”

Freeman closed to within striking distance of the leader around the midpoint of the main event.

“When I was a car length and a half behind we caught a lapped car and coming out of a turn he blocked me and I had to let off,” he said. “I lost all the ground I had made up.”

Freeman was unable to reel the leader back in as he finished second, which marked his second runner-up result in his last four races.

The team will take this weekend off before resuming action on Aug. 8 at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, with the TOWR Series.
