Jerrod Hull – Another “Shock”ing Development!

Jerrod Hull and the Heartland Trailer Manufacturing #12 team brought a different car out at Lincoln Speedway in Illinois last Friday with the MOWA series. Unfortunately, a string of bad luck lately continued when the left front shock came off of the car. The result was a tenth place finish. The team will be ready for Illinois Speedweek with the MOWA series July 23-26.

Things started well at Lincoln. “I was excited to be able to start on the pole and win the heat race,” says Jerrod. “The car felt pretty good. It was the first time in this car. I knew we could make a few changes on it and make it better.”

Jerrod would start sixth in the Dash and surge to third. “A car spun out on the first lap,” he says. “We were able to get by a couple and we ended up running third. We were a little bit better, but I still didn’t feel real comfortable.”

The Sikeston, Missouri driver was ready to start inside row two for the main event. “We made some changes for the feature,” says Jerrod. “The very first lap, I drove into one. There were two holes down on the bottom of one and two. It was all dark down there. They had reworked it, and I hit one of them. I fell back to fifth there in the first corner.”

Jerrod would recover from his bobble. “I was able to come back and was passing for third when the red flag came out,” he says. “I was feeling good at that point. We fell back, but we were coming back through. On the next restart, I fell back to fifth. The car wouldn’t turn. Then I fell back to sixth, and was struggling. I think we fell back and finished tenth.”

It was a frustrating trip back to the pits. “I was upset,” says Jerrod. “That was four nights in a row that we struggled. When I got in, we found out the left front shock had come off. At least we know we have something to work with. It actually wedged itself between the hood and the bar right there, so it locked the left front so it couldn’t do anything. It was one of those deals that happen.”

Jerrod and the team will be ready for Illinois Speedweek events in Quincy, Granite City, Macon and Jacksonville. “We’re not giving up for sure,” he says. “We’ll go into Speedweek next week with this car, and I think we’ll be alright.”
