Freeman Earns 14th-Place Result During Opening Night of Non-Wing Nationals

Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (July 20, 2015) – Cody Freeman is coming off an up-and-down weekend during the Non-Wing Nationals at Port City Raceway.

“There were a lot of ups and downs,” he said. “I learned a lot of stuff though. I learned more about patience and throttle control.”

Freeman made his nonwing season debut on Friday by finishing fifth in a heat race, which relegated him to the B Main. He then scored a fourth-place result during the consolation race to garner a transfer into the back of the main event, which he started 20th.

“I was able to pick up a few positions, but once I got to 14th it was really tough to get around a driver in front of me,” he said. “I was happy with rebounding to finish 14th though.”

Freeman returned to Port City Raceway on Saturday for the finale of the Non-Wing Nationals, which began with Freeman placing fourth in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the front row of the B Main.

“I got spun out on the first lap so I had to go to the back,” he said. “I think I restarted 10th or 12th and just wasn’t able to make it back up there to get a transfer.”

Freeman maneuvered into fifth place, which was one spot shy of earning a transfer into the feature.

He is slated to compete this Saturday at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Texas, where Freeman finished seventh last year.
