After a sixth place run with the Sprint Invaders at the Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa last weekend, Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team head to Bloomfield Speedway Friday and Twin Features Night at the Knoxville Raceway Saturday. The race in Bloomfield will be a Sprint Invaders event.
The ¼-mile bullring in Tipton is a favorite stop for the Sprint Invaders. Josh would start third in his heat race. “We got a decent draw and ran second,” he says. “The track was nice and wide and racy early, like it normally is. It was nice to finish second and make the Dash.”
The West Burlington, Iowa driver drew a starting spot inside row three for the Shake-up Dash. “We had a heck of a start originally,” says Josh. “We were battling for first and second going into turn one. There just wasn’t anything to grab onto on the bottom of turn two. I wasn’t able to get a grip. I fell back to fourth and went up to the cushion.”
He would win a duel with his uncle John Schulz for the fourth spot, but he would be “shaken up” by the Dash draw. “The draw backfired on me a little bit,” says Josh. “John and I were battling for fourth. I ended up getting the spot. The redraw was a three, so that put John on the pole and me back in sixth.”
Josh would finish the feature where he started, and so would his uncle. “The rubber laid down four or five laps in,” he says. “There really wasn’t anywhere to go, so we pretty much ran sixth the entire race. There wasn’t a lot of places to go really. It was neat to see John get a win. He’s had a tough season as well. It’s been a little while since he’s won (2008).”
The team is looking forward to running with the Sprint Invaders in Bloomfield. “Bloomfield is one of my favorite tracks,” says Josh. “We were able to win there in 2013, and we ran third there last year. That track is right in our wheelhouse.”
Saturday will also be a big day in the 410 at Knoxville. “You’re always kind of nervous heading into Twin Features,” says Josh. “You want to get in the show, and it’s a huge point night. We’re hoping we have our ducks in a row for that.”
