Inside Line Promotions – CLEVELAND, Texas (July 14, 2015) – Channin Tankersley used another sprint car off weekend to record his second mod lite victory in as many attempts.

Tankersley piloted Shannon Stockwell’s race car to the win on Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, to make him 2-for-2 in mod lite competition.

“I had a pretty decent car, but I got really lucky believe or not,” he said. “My brother, Cody, was leading it. He was checked out, but crashed. If it hadn’t been for that or a little luck in traffic I would have been a second or third-place car.”

Tankersley moved into second place following his brother’s crash. He then took the lead in traffic with two laps remaining.

“The leader got bottled up in traffic and I got a good, clean chance,” he said. “Luckily it worked out.”

Tankersley also competed in the mod lite on Saturday at Bronco Raceway Park, but a part in the suspension broke early in the feature while he was in fourth place. Tankersley was unable to finish the race and he was credited with a 15th-place result.

“Those cars are so hard to drive,” he said. “They are cool, but are totally different.”

Tankersley returns to his sprint car this weekend with an ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader on Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, and Saturday at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.

“We’ve had pretty decent speed at Battleground and I was satisfied with our result the last time we were at Golden Triangle,” he said. “The last four or five races we’ve been getting better and better. We’ve tried some things we normally wouldn’t and they’ve been working.”

Tankersley ranks fourth in the ASCS Gulf South championship standings – 87 points out of the lead.

“I’m in crunch mode,” he said. “We have to start producing and start gaining some points if we’re going to stay in the championship.”
