Schuett adds to Rookie of the Year points lead

Dupo, IL (July 13, 2015) The planned two-day weekend for the Lucas Oil POWRi midgets quickly became a one-night race at Belle-Clair Speedway when rain forced the cancelation of Saturday’s race at the American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. On Saturday, 32 midgets filled the pit area, along with the POWRi micro sprints, and two classes of Belleville modifieds for the Battle at Belle-Vegas III. The weather was hot, the racing was hotter, and the great crowd on hand saw a whole lot of intense racing action.

Based on his pill draw, Kyle lined up outside the front row of heat race number two. When the green flag dropped, pole sitter, Tyler Thomas jumped out to the lead and from then on, Kyle chased, but couldn’t catch Thomas. Starting second and finishing second put Kyle starting tenth in the 30-lap A-main event. Having a fast car, Kyle was running well for the first few laps, until looping it in turn three. Luckily no one hit him and he was able to restart at the tail of the field. While racing hard towards the back of the pack, Kyle was then hit from behind and brought to a stop for a second time, and once again relegating him to the tail of the field. Unfortunately this wasn’t the end of contact for the young rookie. On a late race restart, Kyle got shoved from behind and made contact with the car in front of him as they were passing the restart cone. Several of these cars came to a stop on the front stretch. After 30 extremely tough laps of racing, Kyle was able to come home with an 11th place finish in his Esslinger powered Boss Chassis.

It was definitely a rough night for the Schuett Racing team, but also one that Kyle will learn a lot from. In his first full season of midget racing, Kyle is continuing to turn heads as he puts together consistent A-main finishes. His 11th place finish Sunday night will increase his lead over fellow rookie contender, Tucker Klaasmeyer, in the Rookie of the Year standings. Kyle and his team will have next weekend off from midget racing, so he and brother, Derek, will be pulling out the Schuett Racing micro sprints. Kyle will then return to POWRi midget racing on Friday, July 24th, at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. This will be one of the biggest and fastest tracks that Kyle will race on all season long. Be sure to follow Schuett Racing on Facebook for continued race updates each weekend.

Kyle and his Schuett Racing team would like to thank everyone for their support and a big thank you to season sponsors - Illiana Insurance Agency, Progressive Propane, Bergfield Farms, KBR Performance, Rod End Supply, FK Indy, Hoosier Tire Midwest, AMSOIL by Roger Clapp, Steve Thomas Racing, Bell Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, BOSS Chassis, R & B Powdercoating, J & K Rentals, and Keizer Wheels.
