On July 11th, The Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints co-sanctioned a race with our friends from the South, the NCRA Sprints. The weather was hot and humid and the racing action was going to be even hotter.
The winners of the 3 heats were Billy Alley, Jack Dover and Stu Snyder, setting the A Feature to be an exciting one as everyone vied for the Speedway Motors Victory Lane with Jason Martin and Raymond Seeman leading the field of 20 cars to the green flag. With a couple of aborted starts due to spins and one red for Raymond Seeman who tumbled down the backstretch after making contact with the outside wall.
Once the racing action resumed, Jason Martin took the lead, with Jack Dover and Billy Alley in hot pursuit. Martin maintained the lead for the first 20 laps when, Alley made a strong move to the bottom to get around Dover for 2nd place, but Dover again resumed the runner-up position 2 laps later. On lap 23, Martin, while racing around some lapped cars, miscalculated the groove the lapped cars were going to take and got out of line coming out of turn 2, allowing Dover and Alley to close in even closer. On lap 24 Dover's number 53 car, powered by Chris Moss racing engines, used all of his Ford's capabilities to get around Martin and held on for the win, with Alley making a last corner pass around Martin to take the runner-up position. Tyler Drueke received the $200 Select Auto Body Hard Charger award and while in Speedway Motor's Victory Lane, Dover pulled the number 3 pill and Jason Martin won the Electrical Systems, Inc podium finish $300 bonus.
