PETERSEN MEDIA: One week after picking up his first two Top-10 finishes of the season, Dakota Hendrickson and his Van Dyke Motorsports team continued to show improvement as Hendrickson picked up his first podium of the season on Thursday night with the Sprint Invaders.
“Harley Van Dyke and Carson McCarl have really been giving me great cars all year, and it is great to get some strong finishes as the season moves along,” Hendrickson said.
Winning his heat race on Thursday night at the Iowa State Fair Speedway, Hendrickson would earn a spot in the night’s Dash where a fifth place finish would put him in the third row of the feature event.
Getting off to a strong start in the A Main, Hendrickson would run inside the Top-Five as he worked into the third spot as he chased after Ian Madsen and Jon Agan. Holding his own in the third position, Hendrickson would pick up his best finish of the season as he crossed under the checkered flag with his first podium finish of the season.
Heading to the Huset’s Speedway on Friday night for a night of action with the National Sprint League, Hendrickson would pick up a fourth place finish in heat race action aboard the Lucas Oil/K&N Products/JRI Shocks No. 5v machine.
Lining up 13th in the feature event, Hendrickson would again race wheel-to-wheel with some of the top drivers the Midwest has to offer as he worked his way into the 10th spot. Looking to keep his string of strong runs going, Hendrickson would bobble with five laps to go, and he would finish in the 14th spot.
Putting the Van Dyke Motorsports 360ci power plant back in the car for Saturday night, Hendrickson was set for Twin Feature night in the division. After winning his heat race, the Omaha, NE wheelman would pick up finishes of 13th and 10th in the feature events.
“Personally I feel like I am getting better in the seat race by race,” Hendrickson added. “Like I said, the cars have been good all year, and now it seems like everyone is clicking and we are all on the same page.”
The Van Dyke Motorsports team would like to thank Lucas Oil, K&N Products, JRI Shocks, NAAKE Suspension, FSR Radiators, for their support during the year.
