Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (July 7, 2015) – Caleb Helms improved throughout last weekend’s UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions tripleheader.

The action culminated with a top-10 finish on Sunday at Millstream Speedway, where Helms registered his fifth top 10 of the season to remain 10th in the championship standings.

“I feel like we got better each night and we’re finding more of a baseline for our setup,” he said. “We’re starting to find that comfort zone. I think finding my groove at the beginning of the race versus the end will be easier.”

Helms qualified 13th quickest and placed third in a heat race to garner the 15th starting position for Sunday’s feature.

“At the end of the race I started figuring it out,” he said. “It just took me too long. It’s nice to feel like we’re starting to get comfortable and can start working on getting consistent.”

Helms maneuvered to a ninth-place result, which was a big improvement from the start of the weekend last Friday at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa.

Helms opened that event by timing in eighth quickest during qualifying. He won a heat race to lock into the dash, where he placed 10th to start the feature on the outside of the fifth row.

“It was kind of rough on Friday night,” he said. “We started out pretty decent, but we were kind of tight in the feature. I was running 10th and after a restart a tire was going flat. We backed up pretty quick. A few laps later I was racing behind Travis Philo and his axle broke right in front of me. I had nowhere to go and went right into him and then the wall.”

Helms ended with a 19th-place finish and the team was forced to pull down the backup car for the remainder of the weekend, which continued on Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park with Helms setting quick time during qualifying.

“Out of the box we were quick time and made it through a tough heat race,” he said. “We ran okay in the feature. We would have been better if I would have moved around more.”

After placing third in a heat race and seventh in the dash, Helms battled for a top 10 throughout the main event before he ended 11th.

He is slated to return to action this Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, for the Lou Blaney Memorial with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions.
