Inside Line Promotions – GREAT BEND, Kan. (July 7, 2015) – Zach Blurton has high expectations entering the first three United Rebel Sprint Series National races of the season this weekend.
Blurton, who is coming off his first victory of the season to take the lead in the URSS Kansas Region, will compete this Friday at WaKeeney Speedway in WaKeeney, Kan., and Saturday and Sunday at RPM Speedway in Hays, Kan.
“The national points is by far the biggest deal this year,” he said. “It’s important to get some good momentum built the first three nights.”
Blurton charged from seventh to capture the win at WaKeeney Speedway on June 28. It marked his second straight season visiting Victory Lane at the track.
“That win helps a lot,” he said. “There will be a lot more cars there, probably 30 every night this weekend. But we’ve ran really well at WaKeeney the last couple of years.”
Next weekend will mark Blurton’s season debut at RPM Speedway, where he placed fourth and sixth, respectively, last season.
“We always end up having bad luck there,” he said. “I’ll be running good or coming through the field and I’ll get caught up in someone else’s wreck. We just have terrible luck there. Hopefully we can turn that around and be in contention for a win or two.”
This weekend could set the stage for Blurton, who has claimed four URSS National victories, to capture his first career national title.
“I want to go out and win and I know we can,” he said. “Honestly I’m going out to run podiums this whole weekend. I won’t be happy with anything less than that.”
