Inside Line Promotions – PETALUMA, Calif. (July 7, 2015) – Chase Johnson got a needed boost of momentum last Friday at Petaluma Speedway, where he garnered his third top 10 of the season.

“We had some issues at the beginning of the night,” he said. “It was a brand new car we put together last week and we had a power steering hose break in hot laps. We had to rush to get that fixed before qualifying and we were rushing so much we forgot about the car itself. We ended up running out of fuel in qualifying. We were way off pace. That threw us behind the eight ball all night.”

Johnson timed in 17th quickest during qualifying. However, he maneuvered from sixth to a third-place result during a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event on a challenging track.

“We had a really fast car,” he said. “The track was really rough. A couple of guys lost their steering with how rough it was. My car stayed together and we ended up having a really good race car.”

Johnson rallied from his 15th starting position into seventh place within the first five laps.

“I would like to say we passed all those cars, but with the track conditions as bad as they were it was eating up cars left and right,” he said. “I was playing conservative and keeping the car underneath me, trying to be there at the end. It was a hard track to pass on. It was one of those tracks you pray you don’t wad up the guy next to you when you make a pass.”

Johnson picked up one more position in the final portion of the race to post a sixth-place result.

“It felt good, but I really wanted a better finish,” he said. “However, it’s a finish and we’ll take it. I can’t complain, especially after the luck we’ve been having this year.”

Johnson has a busy week on tap. He will pilot a micro sprint for Steve Kaiser on Wednesday at Dixon Speedway in Dixon, Calif., and Thursday at Delta Speedway in Stockton, Calif. Then on Friday Johnson will drive his family owned sprint car at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., for the Howard Kaeding Classic with the Civil War Sprint Car Series before wrapping up the weekend in a Shawn and Cyndi Thomas owned sprint car at Ocean Speedway with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge,” he said. “I really like doing this and being so diverse.”
