Inside Line Promotions – DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 6, 2015) – Kevin Swindell capped last weekend’s Boot Hill Showdown by garnering the Hard Charger Award on Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park.
Swindell maneuvered from 20th to a 14th-place result, which marked his second top 15 of the weekend driving for Brandon Berryman.
“We lacked speed throughout the weekend,” Swindell said. “In hot laps the second night I ran wide open and I don’t think I moved my hands and we were more than eight tenths off. The air is weird out there a bit so that might have had something to do with it.”
Swindell missed the heat race inversion during qualifying both nights. He timed in 16th quickest on Friday and 20th on Saturday before picking up a spot during heat race competition to place fifth and sixth, respectively.
“The first night it was an ok lap during qualifying,” he said. “It just didn’t make a lot of speed. We weren’t terrible in the heat race. I got to third or fourth on the start and gave it back. The feature was pretty one lane and we weren’t as good as we needed to be. It was hard to do much anyhow.”
Swindell advanced from 16th to a 15th-place finish during Friday’s main event before maneuvering to a 14th-place result on Saturday.
“It was the same story both nights,” he said. “We tried some different things on Saturday hoping to gain more speed and it didn’t really hit. I would get to the flag stand and stay the same speed and everyone else would keep building speed. In the feature we got by a few guys, but I hardly had the left front tire on the ground I was so tight.”
Swindell is tentatively scheduled to compete for Bernie Stuebgen this Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, with the FAST Series and Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, with, for the Lou Blaney Memorial with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions.
