Callihoo Racing Report - Castrol Raceway - June 27, 2015
June 27 was our 3rd points race of the year at Castrol Raceway. Before this race day we were 4th in points. It was a very hot day at 31 Deg C. We were worried of the car running hot since it was so hot outside and on lower outside air temperature in the past races we had heating issues. We made some changes before race day to help with this. The car did run a bit hot but was better then previous races so we were pleased with the adjustments. June 27th was a date change from the June 13th race.
Our car did well in the heat we started 2nd and finished 5th. we started 11th out of 14 cars for the 25 lap A Main.
The track was dry due to the hot weather, we had a good start but a car spun in front of us and got caught up in the crash on the 1st lap corner 3. Luckily we had very minimal damage was able to restart at the back of the pack of 14th. Wayne was able to gain positions throughout the race, had a few more caution flags due to other competitors spinning out. Had a good clean battle with the 34 of Johnny Weirsma and was able to stay ahead of Weirsma. Wayne passed a few more cars and finished 6th. The official results were released and we ended up 5th due to a car finishing further ahead of us was DQ'd due to weight, this making our second 5th place finish in a row. Wayne has been very happy with the car and so far has finished 6th or better for the entire season. Offical season points to date has Wayne 2nd in points with our Engine Sponsor Chevy Goodhope being 1st in points. We are thrilled to have 2 CCR Motorsport cars in the top 2.
We decided we will race with the 360's at the Jim Albert memorial Gold Cup July 3rd and 4th. The Albert family has been huge supporters for many year in oval track racing in Alberta. The Albert family added extra prize money for the sportsman sprint cars running with the 360's so a big thanks goes to the Albert family.
Our next point race is July 10th which is a Friday night race not a Saturday race.
