Josh Schneiderman – Des Moines on Thursday up Next!

The visit by the FVP National Sprint League to the Knoxville Raceway last Saturday brought out the best as usual. Unfortunately, for Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team, a slip in qualifying made for a tough feature that saw rubber lay down early. This week, the team plans on running with the Sprint Invaders at the Iowa State Fair Speedway in Des Moines Thursday, before double duty in both the 410 and 360 cars at Knoxville on Saturday. The NSL will be returning to Knoxville for that event on the 4th of July.

The West Burlington, Iowa driver went out in the first group of qualifying Saturday at Knoxville. “Going out early can hurt you as much as help some nights,” says Josh. “A couple 360’s went out late and made the bottom work. I messed up on my first lap in three and four and really scrubbed some speed off. Trying to go to the bottom on the second lap…it just wasn’t the place to be when we were out there. That killed us. It was a misjudgment on my part and that happens.”

Being 21st quick, meant that Jos would start on the pole of the first heat. “We were really nice in the heat race,” he says. “We were little tight, but we were o.k. I didn’t get the jump into turn one that I wanted to. (Terry) McCarl was able to get a run on us and slide into second. The transfer is what matters in the heat, and we were able to finish third.”

Starting inside row ten in the feature, he made up some ground early, and would checker 16th. “The rubber really got us,” says Josh. “We had moved up four or five spots right off the bat. We were really working nice up against the fence. I thought we had a chance at some more cars, but once the rubber laid down, we had to get in line.”

The team is ready for a busy weekend. “We have Des Moines on Thursday,” says Josh. “If things go well there, we’ll run double duty at Knoxville on Saturday. I didn’t really realize it, but that’s Twin Features for the 360’s on Saturday. That will put a lot on our plate, but I think that will work out well for us.”
