Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 29, 2015) – Sammy Swindell wrapped up his month-long stint with Jason Johnson Racing by producing a top-10 finish last Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway.

It marked the fourth top 10 during the month for Swindell, who filled in for the team on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series tour while Johnson recovered from an injury.

“I’m sure they learned a lot and it gave me some time to get running again,” Swindell said. “I had a good time. I think they have a good direction to go in now. It should give Jason a good spring board. We’ve got the cars and the motors rolling well.”

Swindell’s final night with the team began with a sixth-place qualifying run, which was one spot out of locking into the dash by qualifying through a heat race.

“It started out real good because we were fastest in the practice,” he said. “I didn’t run the right line for qualifying and could have picked up a bit. We got beat out by two guys by a thousandth of a second so we didn’t get to run the dash to work on our setup.”

Swindell finished third in a heat race to garner the ninth starting position for the main event.

“We took a little shot at doing some things different in the feature and we went a little too far,” he said. “We should have made a couple of bar changes. That would have worked well with the direction we went.”

Swindell battled inside the top 10 for most of the race before posting a 10th-place result.

Last week began on Wednesday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., where Swindell qualified fifth quickest and placed fourth in a heat race to advance into the dash. He finished third in the dash to line up on the inside of the second row for the main event.

“We got the car a little too tight,” he said. “We made some changes and it was all positive. We just needed to do a couple more things. We went in the wrong direction and we lost a couple of inches of stagger, which didn’t help either. I really didn’t get passed too many times when we were racing, but the restarts were terrible and I couldn’t get going. I just hung onto it.”

Swindell ended with a 12th-place result.

Friday’s event at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, was rained out.

Swindell will take the next couple of weekends off before making his debut with CJB Motorsports July 17-18 at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the 32nd annual Kings Royal.
