PETERSEN MEDIA: Putting a frustrating week behind them, and rolling out a new car over the weekend, David Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team were able to pick up two Top-10 finishes as the World of Outlaws were in action at the I96 Speedway and the Beaver Dam Raceway.

“We rolled out a new car that we built after last week, and we were all pleased with how it reacted, and how we ran,” Gravel said. “We still would like to be a little better, but this was a step in the right direction for our entire team.”

Hitting the I-96 Speedway on Wednesday night in Lake Odessa, MI, Gravel would get the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine timed in ninth fastest before finishing second during his heat race.

Just missing out on the dash, the Watertown, CT driver would grid the field in the sixth row for the 35-lap feature event. On the slicked off surface, Gravel would search around the speedway looking for grip as he ran inside the Top-10 during the duration of the feature vent.

A hefty cushion would build up during the course of the night, and as the night clicked off, much of the field would have their right rear tires planted against it, and passing would become scarce. Able to slide up in front of a couple competitors, Gravel would close his night with a ninth place finish.

With Mother Nature picking up yet another win on Friday night, Gravel and company would head to Beaver Dam, WI where they would take to the Beaver Dam Raceway.

Timing in fourth fastest on this night, Gravel would finish fourth in heat race action, but would earn a spot in the dash based on his qualifying effort. Contact with Shane Stewart would see Gravel spin his machine to a stop in turn four, and he would ultimately finish eight, putting him in the fourth row for the feature event.

Slipping back to the ninth spot as the race went green, Gravel would chase after Donny Schatz and Paul McMahan who raced in front of his on the slick 1/3 mile Beaver Dam Raceway.

As the laps clicked away in the 40-lap feature event, Gravel would work his way by a few cars in thick lapped traffic, as he worked up to the seventh spot, where he finished.

“I really want to thank everyone involved with this team for everything they do for me,” Gravel added. “We have all worked hard the last few weeks, and we are heading in the right direction with some huge races coming up.”

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Destiny Motorsports and David Gravel are in action Wednesday night at the Lakeside Speedway before the Boot Hill Showdown at the Dodge City Raceway Park this Friday and Saturday night.
