PETERSEN MEDIA: After getting a night of testing in aboard the Van Dyke Motorsports No. 5v machine, Dakota Hendrickson was very pleased with how the car felt over the weekend.
“We had a chance to test last week, and we all really feel that we came away with some good information, and I think that showed over the weekend.”
Taking to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night with the 360ci engine bolted in the Van Dyke Motorsports frame rails, Hendrickson got off to a great start as he timed in third fastest in time trials, only to come up eight pounds light on the scales.
Able to address the situation, Hendrickson would get another lap, and would ultimately get the Lucas Oil/K&N Products/JRI Shocks No. 5v timed in ninth fastest.
Heat race action saw the Omaha, NE driver get off to a great start, and as he made a move for the second spot a competitor would get out of shape in front of him and Hendrickson would do all he could to stay out of harms way, but would in fact get a piece of the action and endure front end damage.
Moving into the feature event, Hendrickson would grid the field from the 10th row, and went on to turn in a very strong performance as he was able to slice and dice his way to a 12th place finish.
Rolling out the Van Dyke Motorsports 410ci powered car on Sunday night, Hendrickson and company made their way to the Huset’s Speedway for another night of racing.
Getting drenched with hot water during time trials, Hendrickson did not get a time he was looking for and would line up in the rear of his heat race. Getting the issue rectified for heat race action, though he would finish at the back of the heat and line up in the 16th spot.
Just like he did on Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, Hendrickson was able to turn in some very nice laps as he was able to work his way forward again and finish in the 11th spot.
“Overall it was a pretty good weekend for our team,” Hendrickson added. “We did have some issues arise, but overall we did what we could, and came away with some decent finishes.”
The Van Dyke Motorsports team would like to thank Lucas Oil, K&N Products, JRI Shocks, NAAKE Suspension, FSR Radiators, for their support during the year.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 24, Wins-0, Top-5’s-0, Top-10’s-0
ON TAP: Hendrickson and the Van Dyke Motorsports team will be at the I80 Speedway on Friday night with the Nebraska 360 series, the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night with the NSL, and again at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night.
