Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 22, 2015) – Big Game Motorsports and Danny Lasoski have emerged into one of the premier partnerships in sprint car racing.
The Muddy sponsored team has recorded four feature victories and seven podium finishes in the last nine races, including another triumph last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
“I had no idea about those stats,” Lasoski said. “If you can be consistent the wins will come. That just shows how much preparation the team puts into it. We’re continuing to get faster and improve each week.”
Lasoski showcased elite speed throughout Saturday’s event at the half-mile oval, which was delayed a couple of hours because of an afternoon storm. Once racing began Lasoski qualified second quickest before he charged from sixth to second place in a heat race.
“We had another lucky draw that put us on the front row of the main event,” he said. “When we took off we didn’t get a very good start. I’ll take 100 percent of the blame. The car was locked down tight and I gave it a bunch of wheel and it stalled out. I fell to third and then our work was really cut out for us. We hustled through there and got racing through traffic and I got by Ian Madsen. I don’t know if I had anything for the (leader Justin Henderson). He had some unfortunate luck and sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.”
Lasoski took over the top spot when Henderson brought out a caution with three laps remaining. Lasoski maintained the lead during the closing laps to record his 104th career feature victory at Knoxville Raceway, where he leads the championship standings by 204 points.
Big Game Motorsports also competed last Wednesday with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn. Lasoski kicked off the event, which had been delayed one day because of weather, by qualifying eighth quickest before he won a heat race to lock the Muddy backed team into the dash.
“I had a lucky draw that put us on the front row of the dash and we won it,” he said. “They dropped the green flag in the A Main and we thought we were pretty good. With a few laps to go we were in the middle of a bunch of lapped cars. Two cars were side by side. It slowed our momentum to a stop. Any time that happens the second and third-place cars will pounce on you. At the end of the day we got beat by two good race car drivers.”
Lasoski led the first 26 laps of the main event before he lost two positions in traffic with four laps remaining. He ended with a third-place result, which marked his sixth top five of the season with the Outlaws.
The team is scheduled to compete this Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, with the World of Outlaws and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway with the FVP National Sprint League.
