Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (June 21, 2015) – Trey Starks holds high expectations heading into this weekend’s 44th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup.
Starks is seeking his first career triumph at the marquee $15,000-to-win event, which is held this Thursday through Saturday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.
“I’ve won at Skagit more than any other track and the Dirt Cup is certainly a race that is circled on the calendar,” he said. “This is the first year it is a 360ci event so I’m excited to race with all of the top national guys.”
This year’s event is sanctioned by the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, which will bring several of the top sprint car drivers in the country to Skagit Speedway.
“I have a lot of confidence going into this weekend,” Starks said. “I think if we don’t run into any bad luck we’ll be a contender each night.”
Starks has five feature victories at the track, including his first career sprint car win in 2011. He added three triumphs in 2013 and recorded his lone win there last season.
This year Starks has a season-best result of second place with three top 10s in four races. However, he has secured 11 top-five finishes in his last 12 races in his family owned sprint car, including nine podiums.
“There is a lot of money and prestige on the line this weekend,” he said. “This is the type of weekend you dream about winning.”
