Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (June 16, 2015) – Joe Trenca had a successful debut with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions last Thursday.
Trenca made the feature during his first attempt with the series and second 410ci race of the season at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, which preceded his graduation from high school on Saturday.
“It was a busy weekend,” he said. “Last Thursday we started off with a bad time trial, but the heat race wasn’t too bad. We needed to get a lot better for the B Main, which we did. We made up some ground and were better.”
Trenca, who kicked off the race by qualifying 23rd quickest overall, placed seventh in a heat race before advancing to fifth during the B Main. That locked him into the 23rd starting position for the main event.
“The feature went really well, but for some reason we were scored 21st,” he said. “We passed at least six to eight cars. We were thinking we finished 13th through 16th based on what we counted and a few people we talked to.”
Although the results differ, Trenca said it was a very positive night for the Mucci Motorsports team.
“We had a very progressive night,” he said. “Every time we got on the track we got faster and faster. We made up a lot of ground for only the second time in a 410. We seemed to figure out a lot of things with the car compared to the 360.”
This weekend Trenca will make his debut at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa., on Friday before competing on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., with the United Racing Club.
“We’ve never been to Big Diamond and I’ve never seen a video of the track,” he said. “I’ve talked to a few people who have said it’s a slick track and dusty. I don’t really know what to expect, but we’ve gotten better on those types of tracks.
“Selinsgrove is a big race and should have a big car count. I think we’ve improved immensely since the last time I was there.”
