On Sunday, June 14th the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints invaded for the first time ever Dawson County Speedway in Lexington, Nebraska in South Central Nebraska. There were 19 cars in the pits with drivers from Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska, Oklahoma, as well as one driver that made the trip to the track after running 6 hours away in Knoxville, Iowa. The stands were full of fans waiting in anticipation of watching the 360 Sprints which haven't run in Lexington for quite some time. Our objective was to make certain none of them went home disappointed by providing some action- packed racing on the 3/8 mile track.

Winners of the three heats were Jordan Boston, Bill Alley and Don Droud, Jr. Even though the track was not especially heavy, it had enough grit to provide some excellent side-bite which provided for some fast cornering speeds. The fans in the stand were oohing and awing at the speeds and excitement the sprints were providing, setting up for a wild race for the Speedway Motors Victory Lane.

After the redraw of the top 8 points earner from the heat races William Alley and Jordan Boston lead the field to the green flag for the A feature with Alley caturing the lead for the first 10 laps of the 25 lap feature. On lap 10, Jack Dover closed the gap to the lead from his 9th place starting position and powered by Alley on the bottom of Turn number one. After a yellow flag on lap 13, Dover maintained the lead for the remaining 12 laps with Alley challenging fore the lead. Dover lead the field to the Speedway Motors Victory lane followed by Alley, Boston, C.J. Johnson, Don Droud, Jr., Jake Martens, Cody Ledger, Tyler Drueke, Jason Martin and John Klabunde.

In addition to the $1000 winner's share of the purse plus a $200 gift certificate from Speedway Motors, Dover received an additional $200 for the Select Auto Body Hard Charger Award. Dover pulled the #2 pill for 2nd place finisher William Alley to receive an additional $300 for the Electrical Systems, Inc Podium finish award.

The fans in the stand certainly were thrilled by the NE 360 sprints and many asked when we could return again. After this year's positive experience, hopefully it wont be too long before we again meet our new friends and fans at Dawson County Speedway.
