Chase Action Continues Saturday at DCRP!

The busiest stretch of this season’s non-stop action at Dodge City Raceway Park reaches the halfway mark this Saturday night with a full slate of championship chase competition.

A steal at the general admission price of just $10, Saturday’s full card of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

It will mark the third of six consecutive weekends of racing action atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas, with the remainder of the six-week run of action including more chase action minus Sprint Cars on June 20, the Steve King Memorial featuring NCRA vs. ASCS Red River Sprint Cars and the URSS Sprint Cars on June 27 and then the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars “Boothill Showdown” on July 3-4.

With his win on Saturday night, C.J. Johnson became the third different points leader in as many rounds of competition in the inaugural season of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car action.

With four more rounds of DCRP Sprint Car action including Saturday night’s tilt, Johnson is just six points ahead of Ness City’s Luke Cranston with Great Bend’s Zach Blurton another 20 points back in third. Opening night winner Ty Williams of Arcadia, OK, is fourth with Brian Herbert rounding out the current top five.

The opening season of DCRP Sprint Car action has started out in strong fashion with 29 and 27 cars in the opening pair of events before attracting 29 in this past Saturday’s card run in conjunction with URSS.

A total of 42 different drivers have taken in at least one round of DCRP Sprint Car action with 16 drivers that have competed in all three rounds thus far.

While Johnson leads the Sprint Car ranks into Saturday’s action, other championship leaders include Clay Sellard, Mike Appel, Michael Pepper and Cody Davis.

Although Sellard’s win streak in IMCA Modifieds was snapped at three by Jesse Richter on Saturday, the Bucklin driver still holds a 39-point advantage over two-time and defending champ Austin Allen with Jimmy Brozek another 31 points back in third.

There was yet another lead change in IMCA Sport Modified action with Appel’s runner-up finish on Saturday night just enough to give the Dodge City driver a two-point advantage over defending champ Jeff Kaup. The Sport Mods have offered up four different winners in as many races thus far including Jeremy Sigler, Kaup, Josh Appel and Clay Money.

Lakin’s Michael Pepper reached victory lane for the third time in four tries on Saturday night to recapture the IMCA Stock Car points lead, taking a 19-point advantage over Ron Hartman.

With a pair of wins to his credit, Bucklin’s Cody Davis holds a 23-point lead over Reagan Sellard going into Saturday’s action.

General admission tickets to Saturday’s action are only $10, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $30.
