4th At Knoxville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: David Gravel and his Destiny Motorsports team made the best of a Kansas rainout as the team made the call to head to the Knoxville Raceway where Gravel would finish in the fourth spot on Saturday night after a long couple of nights last week.

“We had a tough couple of nights in Kokomo, IN and Greenwood, NE, but we were able to do some work and figure some things out and we were fortunate enough to get to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night to shake some things down,” Gravel explained.

Wet weather would cancel the World of Outlaws scheduled program at the Lakeside Speedway, and with the news the Destiny Motorsports team made the trek to the Knoxville Raceway.

42 cars packed the pit area of the historic ½ mile, and Gravel got off to a strong start as he timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine in sixth fastest.

From the third row of his heat race, Gravel would trade the final transfer position with Tim Kaeding for a few laps before getting the spot for good, and grabbing the fourth spot for good measure as he moved directly into the night’s 20-lap feature event.

Lining up on the front row of the feature event, Gravel would settle into the second spot as fellow front row starter, Danny Lasoski, got a monster jump and took off. Running in the second spot, Gravel would hook up in a very entertaining battle with several of the nations top drivers.

Battling with Ian Madsen, Kerry Madsen, and Terry McCarl, the four drivers would run wheel-to-wheel exchanging positions lap after lap. With K. Madsen and McCarl getting ahead of the Watertown, CT driver late in the race, Gravel would fend off Ian Madsen in the closing laps to finish in the fourth spot.

“I really have to thank my guys for working so hard and getting some things changed on our car to get us going in the right direction,” Gravel said. “We had been strong the last couple of weeks, but something was out of whack early in the week and we struggled.”

In World of Outlaws action to start the week, Gravel would finish in the 15th spot after starting 21st at the Kokomo Speedway before finishing 15th from 19th on Friday night at the I-80 Speedway.

Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, Astro Titanium, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.

ON TAP: Destiny Motorsports and David Gravel will return to action on Friday night at the Crawford County Speedway, hit the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night, before closing the weekend out on Sunday at the Huset’s Speedway.
