Freeman Powers to Top 15 During Pavement Debut at Greenville-Pickens

Inside Line Promotions – EASLEY, S.C. (June 9, 2015) – Cody Freeman accomplished a major feat last Saturday when he made his pavement debut competing with the Southeast Super Truck Series at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

Freeman recorded a 15th-place result during his first career race with Nesbitt Racing Enterprises.

“I was very happy with it,” he said. “Everything went well. I just have to get in better shape. The distance of the race was a lot longer (than in micro sprints). I started falling off the last 10 laps.”

After testing last year and a couple of times last week Freeman received the go-ahead to compete at the half-mile asphalt oval on Saturday. He qualified 18th quickest and battled for a top 15 throughout the first two thirds of the 75-lap race before a miscue sent him to the rear for the final segment.

“I cut off the corner and spun out,” he said. “I learned a lesson there.”

Freeman rebounded from the back of the pack to post the 15th-place finish.

“I can’t thank Tonya McCallister, who is my agent at MPM Marketing, enough for putting this deal together,” he said. “The fact that she and Nesbitt Racing believed in me to offer this opportunity is amazing.”

Mart Nesbitt of Nesbitt Racing Enterprises was just as thrilled.

“We were very pleased with Cody’s first race in a full-body vehicle,” he said. “He did a great job, listened well and showed a lot of patience. He has a lot of talent and we are looking forward to more opportunities with him.”

McCallister added her praise.

“I am so proud of Cody,” she said. “For him to finish the longest race of his career in his first start on asphalt is a feat in itself. I think the asphalt world will be hearing a lot more of the talented Cody Freeman.”

Freeman will return to micro sprint competition this Friday at Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he will make his A Class debut. He recorded podium results during six of his eight races at Mountain Creek Speedway last year in the restricted class.
