Inside Line Promotions – CLEVELAND, Texas (June 9, 2015) – Channin Tankersley took advantage of a test session last Saturday at Bronco Raceway Park, where he powered to his third top five of the season.
“It was a simple test session,” he said. “We had a lot of good R&D in. We went there and started throwing some stuff at it. I actually think we stumbled onto something. The track was super slick and one groove. We’re trying to find an edge. The only way you can stay ahead of everybody is if you’re constantly trying stuff.”
Tankersley opened the event by winning his heat race – his fourth in seven races – to garner the fifth starting position for the main event. He then battled within the top three throughout the feature before finishing third to earn his second podium result of the season.
Tankersley will take that momentum into the start of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek this Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
“I’m pretty confident with what we’ve got and what we’ve found over the past year of going there,” he said. “The biggest thing is I’ve never had a clean night from start to finish. The last couple of times I’ve started behind the eight ball and couldn’t recover. I hope we can go up there and have a solid night.”
Tankersley has earned his career-best result of seventh at the track during each of the past two years.
“I know we’ve got a good motor and a good car,” he said. “As long as we don’t run into any trouble I think we’ll be a contender.”
