Bean Sweeps Eastern HPDs; Nobile #1 at Madera
Cody Jessop and Dylan Nobile lead respective USAC Western HPD Midet standings entering this Saturday’s race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, Calif.
Jessop stands atop the Western overall HPD standings and Nobile is the leader in the Western Pavement points.
Jessica Bean of Farmland, Ind. swept USAC Eastern HPD Midget feature victories Friday and Saturday in North Carolina and Virginia. Nobile, of Clovis, Calif., won Saturday’s Western HPD feature at Madera, Calif.
Bean’s initial USAC feature victory came Friday in the 35-lap race at Wake County Speedway in Raleigh. She passed Calvin Carroll on lap 26 and led the final 10 laps to beat Scott Hunter, fast qualifier Chris Lamb, Matt Lundstrom and Kyle Craker. Her victory was the 60th by a female in USAC history.
Saturday’s 36-lap race at South Boston (Va.) Speedway also fell to Bean as she passed Andrew Layser on lap 14 and led to the checkered flag to beat Chris Lamb, Scott Hunter, Layser and Matt Lundstrom.
Nobile won Saturday night’s 30-lap “Summertime Horsepower Nationals” USAC Western HPD Midget feature at Madera Speedway. Nobile passed Tom Paterson on lap 10 and led the rest of the way to beat Paterson, Annie Breidinger, Ashley Hazelton and Ethan Lesser.
