TULSA, Okla. (June 8, 2015) Another full weekend of action in the books for the ASCS Nation as National and Regional events took place with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real and ASCS Red River Region at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla. along with ASCS Frontier at the Electric City Speedway in Great Falls, Mont. and ASCS Southwest at the Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz.
In all, 76 drivers took part in this past weekend’s racing action with a pair of first time winners to bring the overall total on the season to 18 winners in 33 ASCS sanctioned events. Seth Bergman is the leading ASCS winner so far in 2015 with four victories to his credit.

Friday, June 5, 2015
• J.J. Hickle (Frontier) The streak continued for Washington’s J.J. Hickle with the ASCS Frontier Region on Friday night with victory at the Electric City Speedway for Peterson Motorsports. Hickle made the pass in the closing laps over Phil Dietz for the win.
Saturday, June 6, 2015
• Blake Hahn (National / Red River) The grandson of Emmett Hahn broke into Victory Lane at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla. on Saturday night. Hahn had to fend off Oklahoma City’s Wayne Johnson for the win.
• Joe Perry (Frontier) Hard work paid off for Montana’s Joe Perry on Saturday night, as the Billings native parked the family backed No. 28 at the Electric City Speedway.
• Casey Buckman (Southwest) For the second time in his career, Arizona’s Casey Buckman put the Firehouse Subs No. 91 in Victory Lane with the ASCS Southwest Region. Buckman made the race winning pass on Lap 14 at the Arizona Speedway.
News and Notes:
• First Timer –While Blake Hahn had 6 ASCS Regional wins going into Saturday night, his best finish against the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour had been a pair of runner-ups at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway and Electric City Speedway in 2014. That all changed at the Salina Highbanks as Hahn parked his Lucas Oil / CSR Garage No. 52 in Victory Lane. Being only a moments’ drive from home, the win was made all the sweeter with friends and family in attendance.
• A First, With A Twist – Joe Perry’s first win comes with a bit of a twist. Normally you see wins followed by Championships. No so for Perry who topped the points for the former Big Sky Sprint Tour in 2009. As reported by Andrew Kunas, the Billings, Mont. driver finally put a notch in the win column on Saturday night with the ASCS Frontier Region at the Electric City Speedway. Asked about the championship trumping his win, Perry replied, "You could say it's ironic. Most people win several races during a championship run. We were just very consistent and always finishing well that season."
• Streaking! – J.J. Hickle tried to make it four for four, but his win streak with the Frontier Region ended at three on Saturday night. Still, the Washington native has had an impressive start to his 2015 run with four overall wins along with seven top-fives, and eight top-tens in 10 starts.
• Tragedy – For two ASCS teams, Saturday night signaled the unfortunate end of their season. Mickey Walker awoke Sunday morning to find all of his equipment in a pile of melted steel and ash as fire consumed the entire setup. Half a nation away, Cody Cambensy lost his equipment when an axle snapped on the trailer, causing a fire that, according to Cambensy, consumed nearly everything but the car. • What a Trip – Kyle Bellm had an eventful trip to the Salina Highbanks Speedway on Saturday, suffering two blow outs on route to the track. Making it just in time for the Driver’s Meeting and draw, Bellm ended up 12th in the evening’s feature event after winning his Heat Race.
• Flying High – And not in the way you would hope either as Fred Mattox and Tony Bruce, Jr. each ended up on the wrong side of the Salina Highbanks during Heat Race action. Despite extensive damage, both drivers were able to continue on. Despite the bent car and provisional start, Bruce was able to charge forward 16 spots in the A-Feature.
• Trouble While Leading – Seth Bergman and Aaron Reutzel each had great runs cut short on Saturday. Leading the first few rounds, Seth Bergman’s night ended with engine failure. While Aaron Reutzel was able to continue, it was from 21st to 10th after contact with a slower car sent the No. 87 spinning.
• Hard Chargers – In looking at the top-ten from Saturday’s Lucas Oil ASCS event at the Salina Highbanks Speedway, seven drivers advanced five or more positions. Tony Bruce, Jr. was the highest at 16, followed by Sean McClelland who marched ahead 14 spots. Johnny Herrera and Terry Gray each advanced eighth spots with Kevin Ramey at seven, followed by Wayne Johnson and Blake Hahn who each passed six cars. Brandon Hanks advanced five spots for his best national tour finish.
Looking Ahead:
The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real and ASCS Red River Region heads for the Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, June 13 to kick off the 23rd ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.
The ASCS Frontier Region hits the Gallatin Speedway for the first time in 2015 on Friday, June 12 followed by the BMP Speedway on Saturday, June 13.
The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region hits the high banks of the U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, Mo. on Friday, June 12 for Budweiser Night at the Races.
