Tankersley Taking Championship Mentality into Remainder of the Season

Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (June 2, 2015) – Channin Tankersley is relying on a championship mentality he developed last season to get him through a rough start to the 2015 season.

Tankersley has been unable to finish four of his six races this season because of either being caught up in a crash or slowed by a part failure. However, he was running inside the top five during each of those four races when disaster struck.

“Last year we were really consistent throughout the season and that’s what led us to the ASCS Gulf South Region championship,” he said. “We’ve shown the speed this year. If we can get back to that consistency of finishing races I know we’ll be a contender.”

Tankersley, who has placed second and fourth, respectively, during the two features when he’s taken the checkered flag this season, is aiming to jumpstart that consistency during his next scheduled race – June 13 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“We’ve been fast at Devil’s Bowl, but also had a lot of bad luck there over the years,” he said. “Hopefully we can string together a bunch of consistent laps, finish the race and see where that puts us.”

That will be the first of approximately 30 races remaining for Tankersley this season, including 10 with the ASCS Gulf South Region. Tankersley ranks sixth in the championship standings – 105 points out of the lead.

“It’s going to be a tough task to overcome the points deficit, but I’m confident in my team,” he said. “Our goal is to continue to showcase our speed each race and finish all the laps. If we can continue to be fast and avoid the bad luck we might have a shot at climbing back in the hunt for the championship.”
