Adding even more excitement to the third annual Arnold Motor Supply Shootout at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa for the World of Outlaws, is the addition of a pit crew challenge showcasing the talents of the hardworking crews that play such a large part in a driver’s success on the grueling circuit.

The Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge will take place at 5 p.m. Central on Wednesday, September 16 in front of the vast main grandstand at Clay County Fair Speedway, giving the fans an up close glimpse at the speed and precision of World of Outlaws crews and their abilities to make quick changes to the 850-plus horsepower machines that their driver’s pilot.

“It will be exciting to see guys who do this for a living, five times a week, be able to compete against each other for some very nice prizes,” said Dave Kimbell of Arnold Motor Supply. “Arnold Motor Supply is the sponsor of the pit crew challenge and there will be a nice cash prize for first, second and third place. It should be a very fun event.”

The Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge will pit teams against the clock as they will make a front end change to their race cars, with three crew members taking part for each time. The last time the World of Outlaws held a pit crew challenge was in 2006, with the No. 9 Kasey Kahne Racing team picking up the overall title in the three-race mini-series. The opener of that challenge was a front end change which they completed in just over two minutes, winning by a mere second and a half over the next closest team.

In the Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge, the car will have to roll into the designated work area with all four wheels on and all parts bolted on. A horn will then sound signifying the beginning of the competition. Crew members will start the competition from behind a designated line, make the front end change and then return to behind the line. An official will then quickly inspect the car to make sure it’s race ready.

“It’s always good to do something to enhance the show,” said Craig Dollansky of the pit crew challenge. “It’s good to have the crews go out and display their hard work and show fast they can do some of these things on these race cars. For them to get some recognition is very important with the dedication they all have and the countless hours they put in.”

The winning team of the Arnold Motor Supply Pit Crew Challenge will receive $700 from Arnold Motor Supply with the runner-up receiving $200 and the third-place crew will earn $100, from a total purse of $1,000. Snap-on Tools will also provide prizes and each team that participates will also receive a door prize.

For the third consecutive year Arnold Motor Supply will be the title sponsor of the World of Outlaws race at the historic 3/8-mile fairgrounds track in Spencer, Iowa. Donny Schatz, the three-time and defending series champion, has won the race each of the last two years and will look to stay undefeated this season with a very strong field in attendance.

“It’s one of the best races I have ever seen,” Kimbell said. “All the big name drivers come to a tiny little town in northwest Iowa to a great track and that is very exciting. We always put a bunch of people in the stands. The fans like it, the drivers like it and it’s great to work with Craig and Julie Dollansky along with their crew.”

Craig Dollansky along with wife Julie, who originally is from Spencer, Iowa, will again promote the event this season. Each of the first two races for the World of Outlaws at Clay County Fair Speedway have played to huge crowds as the famed Clay County Fair also is going on at the same time.

“There is definitely a lot of work that is involved with putting an event on, but we have some great help back there at the Clay County Fairgrounds,” noted Craig Dollansky, who has won three times this year with the World of Outlaws. “Everyone works hard and does a great job. We are just hoping for good weather and I think the pit crew challenge will be a great addition to the event.”

On Wednesday, September 16 at Clay County Fair Speedway, adult general admission tickets will be $30, with general admission tickets for children ages 12-under $15. Reserved tickets will be $35. Pit combos will also be available which include a reserved seat and a pit pass for $55. For tickets call 763-389-9717. For more information on tickets visit: http://www.cdrpromotions.info.
