Josh Schneiderman – Big Weekend Ahead!

Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team charged from 21st to 11th in last Saturday’s feature at Knoxville. This Memorial Day weekend will prove to be a busy one, as the team has three races planned. On Friday, they head to the Folkens Bros. Trucking Spring Nationals at the Jackson Speedway in Minnesota with the FVP National Sprint League. On Saturday, they will be back in Knoxville, before competing in Josh’s hometown of West Burlington, Iowa with the Sprint Invaders on Sunday.

A problem in hot laps led to a time trial effort of 19th quick. “We broke a power steering fitting in hot laps,” says Josh. “We thrashed on the car and didn’t have a whole lot of time before time trials to diagnose where we needed to go. That really bit us. The track was quite a bit different than it was the week before.”

With just three heats inverting six, that left Josh one spot out of the heat race invert. He would start seventh with the top six advancing to the feature. “We had to battle through some adversity, which is nothing new for us,” he says. “It was no big deal. I was able to work through to a transfer in the heat. Unfortunately, I made another ‘bonehead’ move, which is becoming too common. We started seventh and managed to get up into a transfer spot. I ran the bottom consistently the whole race, and for some reason on the last lap, I decided to go to the top and check my line. (Dustin) Selvage got by us on the bottom. Sometimes, you get what you deserve, I guess.”

The car was solid in the B main, where Josh would finish third. “We wanted to feel the car out a little,” he says. “Getting into the top two wasn’t going to help us a whole lot after timing in 19th. We wanted to make sure everything was good and get better for the feature. We were able to do that.”

He would start back in row 11 of the main event. “We were really good in the feature,” says Josh. “I bided my time early on. I knew there may be some carnage. I wish I would have gotten going a little earlier in the race. The last six, eight or ten laps, we were really pretty stout. It’s definitely something to build on for next week.”

The charge has the team ready for Jackson on Friday. “Jackson looks like it’s going to be a great deal,” says Josh. “It’s more or less a new facility for everyone it sounds like. I’m really excited to get up there. I’d really like to be at Huset’s (with the NSL) on Sunday too, but it’s tough to pass up a race in your hometown. Maybe it will rain on one or the other for us.”
