Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (May 19, 2015) – Channin Tankersley’s goal for this weekend’s ASCS Gulf South Region tripleheader is simple.
“I just want to finish the races,” he said. “We’ve ran into a lot of bad luck early this season, but if we had finished every race I think we would have had a top five each time. We have the speed. We just need to have three smooth nights.”
Tankersley will kick off the weekend on Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, before shifting to Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad, Texas, on Saturday and Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas, for the 13th annual Memorial Day Classic on Sunday.
“I’m hopeful we can get a win this weekend,” he said. “That’d be pretty cool and would help get us on the right track.”
Tankersley has recorded four second-place finishes in his last five races at Heart O’ Texas Speedway.
“I’ve run very well there,” he said. “We’ve had pretty good success. We just never have been able to seal the deal.”
He competed twice at Shady Oaks Speedway last season and was unable to finish both races.
“I didn’t have any success there last year,” he said. “It’s pretty cool when you roll in there. When you go in the pits there’s a bunch of oak trees. It’s definitely something different.”
Battleground Speedway has been Tankersley’s best track the last two years, when he’s reached Victory Lane twice. He earned three top fives and four top 10s in five races at the track last season.
“We’ve been really fast there every time we’ve ran,” he said. “Hopefully we can put together a strong night from start to finish and be in contention for another win.”
Tankersley ranks sixth in the championship standings despite being involved in a crash during three of his four races this season.
