Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (May 12, 2015) – Joe Trenca has been dreaming about this weekend for as long as he can remember.
Trenca is set to make his World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series career debut on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.
“Ever since I can remember I always dreamed about racing with the Outlaws,” he said. “Now that it’s finally going to happen, it’s surreal. It’s going to be cool to race against them. It’s going to be tough. There’s a lot of stiff competition.”
Trenca has only raced at the track once, which was in a micro sprint a few years ago.
“It’s a small track,” he said. “It’s going to be hard to pass. It has tight corners around there. You’ll have to really be on top of your game.”
The Mucci Motorsports team will kick off this weekend on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints. Three of Trenca’s four races this season have been at the half-mile track and his best finish has been a 12th-place result.
“I’ve learned a few things driving-wise, but more importantly we’ve learned a lot about our new car,” he said. “Hopefully that will help us this weekend. I think the biggest thing is starting position. I don’t think we’ve started better than 20th. That all relies on the heat race. We need to get a good start in the heat and try to turn things around.”
