Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (May 10, 2015) – Trey Starks has found the consistency he had been searching for the past couple of years.

Starks powered to his fourth straight podium finish and his fifth consecutive top five on Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway.

“We have it in our head that we’re going to win when we go to any race,” he said. “It’s hard to win every night, but we’re rolling pretty well. It sucks not winning, but we know we’re in contention to win every night when we roll into the pits.”

Starks opened Saturday’s event by qualifying eighth quickest around the 3/8-mile oval.

“We were ok in hot laps, but didn’t have a good qualifying lap,” he said. “We drew the last number and the track fell off a bit, but we were off from where we should have been.”

That lined him up on the outside of the front row of a heat race.

“We ran second for most of the race before we won the heat on a last-lap pass up on the top,” he said. “We were like the only car in the heat races who could make the top work.”

Starks started on the inside of the fourth row for the 25-lap feature.

“We just rolled through the main and picked off as many cars as we could,” he said. “The track was really, really racy. It had a top and a bottom and you could race either line. We had a car that worked pretty good through the slick and that’s where we got most of our cars.

“We were running fourth with about eight laps to go and we ended up racing Jared Peterson really hard for the closing five laps. We finally got him on the last corner of the last lap. That was pretty good to get another podium. We were really good, but we weren’t up there in clean air with the fast cars to have a shot at the win.”

The third-place result gave Starks his second podium finish of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway.
