[b ASCS SOD Championship Battle Concludes with Hartford's King of Michigan Event]

After two events during Labor Day Weekend the point race for the 2009 Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP championship is remarkably close with four drivers holding a mathematical chance of winning the 2009 championship.
The final race for the championship will be held Friday during one of the biggest point races of the season, Hartford Speedway’s 11th annual King of Michigan SOD Summer Nationals in Hartford, Michigan. Friday's feature offers up a $2,000 winner's share and $250 to start.
By virtue of his win Friday at Winston Speedway combined with fifth place finish Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway Gregg Dalman has pulled within 12 points of 2008 champion Brett Mann. Mann finished sixth at Winston, but lost a right rear wheel and posted a 15th place finish at Crystal.
Lurking in third is three time ASCS SOD champion Tim Norman only 16 points behind Mann and four points from taking over second place from Dalman.
In fourth place is leading feature winner Dustin Daggett after collecting his 10th checkered flag of the 2009 season. After missing an event earlier in the season Daggett is still mathematically in the championship chase only 22 points behind Mann. If the top three should falter Daggett
could still win the 2009 championship.
Of the four drivers only Dalman has yet to win an ASCS SOD point title.
Practice takes place Friday at Hartford Speedway starting at 7:00 with racing at 8:00 p.m. General admission is $15.00 with children 10 and under admitted free. Pit passes are $25.00
The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule contested throughout Michigan, Ohio, and into Canada.
The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2009. Anchored by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of a dozen different Regions throughout the nation.
