Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (May 5, 2015) – If it wasn’t for bad luck Chase Johnson wouldn’t have any luck.

Johnson ran into a mechanical problem last Saturday during the 25th annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway, where he was unable to start the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series main event in the Shawn and Cyndi Thomas owned sprint car.

After opening the night by qualifying 20th quickest, Johnson quickly maneuvered into third place from his fifth starting position during a heat race.

“I made some good moves and put us in a good spot,” he said. “I lost one spot on a restart. Then it started acting a little funny and losing a little power halfway through the heat race. Right after the checkered it went up in smoke.”

Johnson held on for fourth place, which garnered a transfer into the main event. Unfortunately, a hole in the oil pan eliminated the team’s chances of competing in the feature.

“It definitely hurt us (in points), but we’re mainly going out there wanting to make main events and get solid finishes,” he said. “Our main goal is to get King of the West Rookie of the Year.”

Johnson will return to King of the West competition this Saturday at Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, Calif., where he won the 360 track championship in 2012 and made his winged 410 sprint car debut last season.

“I’m really looking forward to going to Petaluma,” he said. “We had a really good run there last year. It’s close to home. I’m just hoping and praying that our luck will turn around.”
