Schuett adds two more top ten finishes to his 2015 stats

Dupo, IL (May 4, 2015) He’s a rookie, right? Young Kyle Schuett may be in his first year of midget racing, but he definitely isn’t racing like it. This past weekend, Kyle and his Schuett Racing team loaded up and headed west for the Lucas Oil POWRi - Missouri Mid-State Midget Nationals. Beautiful weather and great car counts would be on hand for the two nights of racing in Missouri. The first stop for the weekend was Valley Speedway in Grain Valley and night two was at the amazing facility known as Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland.

On Friday night, Kyle would draw the outside front row starting position for heat race number four. When the green flag dropped, Kyle jumped out to the lead and never looked back. He pulled away from the rest of the field and was never challenged in route to picking up his second heat race win of the season. Based on passing points, Kyle would line up eighth for the 30 lap A-main event. When the race started, Kyle had his Esslinger powered Boss Chassis hooked up and was able to move up to about sixth position. He raced between fifth and seventh most of the event until a late caution flag flew. After the caution, Kyle would lose a few spots and come home with a ninth place finish. Although disappointed with losing a few positions at the end of the race, this night marked another successful top ten finish for the Philo, Illinois native and another great points night.

Saturday night, the Lucas Oil POWRi Midgets headed out to one of the nicest dirt tracks in the country; the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Twenty six POWRi National and POWRi West midgets were on hand to do battle for night two of the weekend. Kyle’s pill draw put him starting seventh in a tough heat race, which included reigning POWRi West champion, Alex Sewell, POWRi front runner and Boss Chassis teammate, Austin Brown, and former sprint car champion, Michelle Decker. Kyle would race hard for the eight lap event, but was only able to advance one position, finishing in sixth. This finish did not give Kyle enough points to move straight to the A-main, so it was on to the pole starting position of the B-main event. Kyle jumped out to the early lead, but would eventually be passed by another youngster, Jake Neuman and another Boss Chassis competitor, Nick Bailey. At the end of the race, Kyle finished third and was able to transfer to the Saturday night main event. As a result of running the B-main, Kyle lined up 19th for the 30 lap, caution plagued, A-main event. As laps clicked away, young Schuett moved through traffic and got up to seventh spot before breaking a timing belt on lap 27 and being forced to retire from the event. With the amount of caution flags that flew and the number of competitors unable to make it to the finish, Kyle’s 27 lap effort resulted in another top ten finish as he earned the tenth finishing position.

These two top ten finishes help Kyle continue his quest for the 2015 Rookie of the Year honors. He and his Schuett Racing team now have four top ten finishes this season. With POWRi being the premiere midget sanctioning body in the country, these results show just how talented this young guy is.
