After a long Winter, we finally got back to action at Rapid Speedway! We had our weekly lineup of Sportsmans, Lems Auto Recyclers USRA Hobby Stocks, KJ Automotive USRA B-Mods, Precision Auto Body USRA Stock Cars & we also welcomed in the first ever MSTS 360 Sprint Car event! The weather was beautiful for the first weekend of May and the car count and stands showed it. We had 90 cars check in at the back gate about over 1700 people in the stands to start our 65th season of racing at Rapid Speedway! Things got off to a little late start but the track was in great shape and we quickly got through the heat races. Once the features got started, last year's Sportsman's point champ started off the year on a great note by getting the win. The Hobby Stocks were marred by numerous cautions but after it was all said and done, last year's runner-up Dustin Gulbrandson came away with the victory! Next up were the KJ Automotive USRA B-Mods and Miah Christensen took the lead after Tyler Johnson spun out with just a few laps to go and got the first win of the season! Stock cars were up next and Elijah Zevenbergen started in 8th but had a very fast car and was able to get his first win of the season. That set up the 25 lap A Main feature for the MSTS 360 Sprints. This was the first feature for this newly formed touring series and they didn't disappoint! Jamie Ball started on the pole and had the lead for 23 laps but a restart on lap 20 allowed Lee Grosz to find some rubber and on lap 23 he made the pass to take the lead and get the checkered flag! Overall it was a great night of racing for our 1st night of the season. We want to thank all the drivers and fans that came out to support us and we hope to see you all back next week!
