In front of a nearly full grandstand at Abilene Speedway, both SCP Polymers participating drivers transferred into the A-Main Feature.
The night started with Mike Herring’s Heat Race #1 (Presented by Saldana Racing Products) where Mike started outside on the third row. Since he was just on the cusp of the transfer spot into the feature, he smartly moved his way through traffic and picked off two positions to finish 4th.
Immediately following, Josh Hanna started Heat Race #2 (Presented by Rod End Supply) in the 3rd position. After a very competitive race, with several experienced drivers, Hanna managed to hold onto the 4th position.
Both drivers transferred into the A-Main where Mike Herring and Josh Hanna were slotted in the 10th and 2nd starting positions, respectively. However, after an early caution, Mike Herring spun under yellow causing him to have to restart in the back of the field. Mike was able to overcome the adversity by taking advantage of a future caution that took out several cars in the field and recover with a 11th place finish. Meanwhile, Hanna struggled the entire race as he tried to adapt to the track conditions that caused him to drop six positions to finish in 8th (his 1st career Top 10).
Reagan Reed led several laps until a fast Dustin Woods slipped by for the win near the end of the race.
Next race will be Sunday, May 24th, in Waco, TX at Heart ‘O Texas Speedway. Bud Hanna, who sat out of the Abilene race after having heart surgery, will be making his comeback.
