Troubles for Thiel at Beaver Dam

Mother Nature played her games and set back round number two of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint car series to Sunday April 26th at Beaver Dam Raceway. Sunny skies and somewhat decent temperatures were presented as the Scott Thiel Motorsports team entered into the pits. Scotty would go on to qualify in the eighth position out of the 31 cars in attendance. After starting out in the fourth spot in the heat race event, Scotty battled with Ian Madsen for the second position and would overtake the spot and finish second! Thiel would have started in the second row of the A-main event but the team discovered a broken rocker arm in the engine after the heat race and would have to scratch from the lineup.

After drawing a 26 pill for the qualifying order, Thiel went out on the track 13th out of the 31 cars in attendance. Scotty put down a respectable lap which set him eighth quick overall for the evening. He would be placed in the fourth position for the heat race lineup. The field got pushed off and lineup to take the green flag. Coming out of turn four the green flag flew. Scotty charged the high side in turn one and jumped out into the second position coming down the back stretch. He held that position for the next six laps but started to get challenged for position by Ian Madsen in turn three and four. Madsen slid by but Scotty quickly jumped back into second on the front stretch. The two battled for position lap after lap but at the end, Scotty got the extra charge out of turn four and took the second position away. On the last lap of the heat, Thiel felt something happen to the motor and quick shut it down after crossing the finish line. The team went to work to find the problem and after taking the valve cover off, they discovered a broken rocker arm was the issue. The teams’ spare engine is not finished yet by the engine builders and they did not have any spare parts to fix the problem. After having a great run early on in the night, they were forced to scratch from the A-main event. With the new invert format, Scotty would have started in the second row of the A-main. “It’s just so disappointing that this happened. We finally had a great start to the night as we struggled the last couple of weeks early on and battled our way back. I was really looking forward to the main as I felt we would have had something good for it. I just hate it for our partners as we were fast but couldn't showcase it in the main. We’ll get everything figured out and come back to Beaver Dam on the 9th (of May) and just charge that much harder for a win!” Thiel explained after having to scratch from the A-main lineup.

The next event on the Scott Thiel Motorsports schedule is Saturday May 9th, again at Beaver Dam Raceway. They will get prepared and try to continue on what they started this past Sunday and charge for the first win of the season.

Scott Thiel Motorsports would like to thank all of their great marketing partners for the 2015 racing season.

Torsion Bar Rate:
Torsion bar testing has been around as long as the bar has. There are many different ways to test bars, but they all have the same goal.... to compare one bar to another and give the results in a numerical value (PSI, FORCE POUNDS, RATE). This is good, but can be hard to understand. We simplify this process. The numbering system we use is standard to the torsion bar industries. During our test sessions, data is collected and stored in our software, which then calculates it to a torsion bar size that everyone can understand. We have found 1025 bars that test between a 1012 and a 1036 bar. Our test services take away the guesswork. We provide you with a TORSION BAR RATE. Check out www.torsionbarrate.com for more info!
